Seymour board approves Main Street closure for Easter event, seeks bids for paving and access road

The Seymour Board of Aldermen voted to close Main Street for one hour on March 28 so Real Love Church can hold an Easter egg drop from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. City Administrator Hillary Elliott told the board she had been contacted by the church and that she requested the closure; the motion to close Main Street was made by Bub Wallace and seconded by Jim Ashley and passed with all present voting yes.
Elliott also told the board a regional bike ride scheduled for April 25 will stop in Seymour on the square, and that the ribbon cutting for the new walking trail is set for May 9 with the Department of Natural Resources and the National Parks Service expected to attend. Elliott said she has requested bids for street paving and asked for bids to build a road on city-owned land to access Velma; she mentioned possible paving of Scott Street (Water to Cantrell) and Cantrell Street (Scott to South Street). Those items will return to the council for bid approval at a future meeting.
The board tabled a Library Board appointment until the next meeting and had no further action on the paving bids at this session.
