The Neptune City Board approved routine minutes, multiple finance and human resources items, and a set of policy updates on first reading during the public meeting.
Minutes for the regular board meeting of Dec. 11, 2025 and the executive session of the same date were approved (with two abstentions recorded). The board also approved minutes of the reorganization meeting held Jan. 8, 2026. Consent items approved under finance and operations included standard payroll certifications and a bills list; board members asked about a roughly $16,000 audit bill and were told audit results would be presented at an upcoming committee meeting.
A board member asked about a $6,901 technology services charge; the chief school administrator explained that covered the i‑Ready adaptive assessments (local formative benchmark assessments aligned to the NJSLA) and that billing had been arranged to span Dec.–June to align with the district fiscal cycle. The administrator also said a $500 fee for Ms. Coppola’s training will be paid from Title II ESEA grant funds rather than the general fund.
Human resources resolutions approved included appointments of day‑to‑day substitutes and a prospective appointment (pending certification) of Constance Petunia as a grade‑1 leave replacement teacher at a prorated salary of $56,931. A family‑leave date adjustment for an employee (employee number 64604317) from Dec. 5, 2025 to Apr. 28, 2026 was also approved.
The board accepted first readings of a packet of policy updates drafted by Strauss SMA (a legal/policy services provider). The policies will be available for review and may be revised before second reading and final adoption.
Board members also discussed storage pod rental costs (reported as about $1,000 for some two‑month periods) and the long‑standing shared‑services arrangement with the town Department of Public Works for plowing, sanding and facility assistance at no cost to the district. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
