Curley told the board he appreciated that discussion of the project letter had been temporarily postponed and said many community members with children in the district remain concerned about possible impacts. "I just wanted to thank the board for at least temporarily postponing discussion of the Bethune Energy Project," Curley said. "The impact should be figured out before we go ahead and support this."
Miss Heather had opened the public forum by reminding speakers that the board would listen but not engage in a Q&A during public comment, and that speakers should sign the public forum sheet so the board can follow up on concerns.
The board did not take any vote on the Bethune Energy Project at the July 7 meeting; Curley’s remarks took place during the public forum after the chair listed him as a registered speaker. The board has not scheduled a final vote on a letter or endorsement at this meeting.
