David H. Lillard Jr. was reelected State Treasurer by the Tennessee General Assembly in a joint convention on Jan. 15, 2025, and was sworn in.
Representative Marsh nominated Lillard, recounting investment performance and pension savings realized during his tenure; Senator Stevens seconded the nomination. Representative Johnson nominated Madeline Rejero as an alternative candidate; Representative Clemens seconded. After nominations were closed, the clerk called the roll. The Senate was reported as roughly 27 for Lillard and 6 for the alternative; the House was reported as 74 for Lillard and 21 for the alternative. The presiding officer declared David H. Lillard Jr. duly elected State Treasurer for the ensuing two years.
Judge Neil McBrayer administered the oath. Treasurer Lillard thanked members and department employees in brief remarks, noting the honor of serving Tennesseans and expressing appreciation for staff leadership.
The convention then moved to the election of the Secretary of State.
