Lauderdale County Trustee reports $53.99 million in assets; tax-relief and delinquent-tax actions noted

Conrad reported that $58,627 in 2023 delinquent county taxes were transferred to Chancery Court on April 8, 2025, after customary collection efforts. She also summarized the county's Tax Relief program for 2024'25, which closed April 5 and served 582 applicants year-to-date for a total of $114,905 in relief: disabled applicants (53) totaling $7,806; disabled veterans (40) totaling $26,841; disabled-veteran widows/ers (16) totaling $8,973; and elderly recipients (473) totaling $71,285. Conrad said the state had not yet completed review for approximately 50 applications.
The trustee packet included trial-balance tables and a detailed schedule of certificates of deposit and other investments across local banks and custodians (Bank of Ripley, Gates Bank, Bank of Halls, First Citizens, BankTennessee and Morton/US Bank). The investment schedule in the submitted materials shows multi-bank CD holdings and maturities used to project cash flows and near-term liquidity.
The commission approved the Quarterly Financial Report on a motion by Commissioner Joe Pursell, seconded by Mary Moore, by voice vote. In presenting the report, Conrad concluded: "It is my pleasure and honor to serve as your Trustee for Lauderdale County."
