New Hanover approves consent agenda including Operation Helping Hand outreach with Burlington County

On March 10, the New Hanover Township Committee approved a consent agenda covering Resolutions 2026-38 through 2026-46 by a single motion and unanimous roll call vote.

The slate includes a local recreation grant application (2026-38), a tax overpayment refund (2026-39), a change order and performance/maintenance-bond actions related to the Hance, Ellis, Rossi road construction project carried out by Arawak Paving Co., Inc. (2026-40 and 2026-41), a spending cap for the annual Easter Egg Hunt (2026-42), and an amendment to a shared-services agreement with Burlington County to implement Operation Helping Hand (2026-43). Also included were a shared-services street-sweeping agreement with Chesterfield Township (2026-44), participation in the State Attorney General's Safe and Secure Communities Program grant (2026-45), and the appointment of a part-time deputy clerk and registrar (2026-46).

Police Chief Tuliano explained that Resolution 2026-43 is an amendment to an existing shared-services arrangement with Burlington County intended to provide outreach to people with addictions. He said county and police personnel will work together on outreach and "will mostly go to Sure Stay Hotel to help those in need." The Committee did not remove any item for separate consideration and approved the package on a 5-0 roll call vote. Committeeman Koshak made the motion and Committeeman Murphy seconded.

The resolutions include administrative actions (appointments and grant applications) and project-level actions (change order and bond release for a road project). The resolutions and any supporting contracts or grant documents are on file with the township clerk for public inspection.
