Ridgely schedules street paving, notifies homeowners about grinder-pump plan; zoning enforcement to begin

At the June 1 town meeting Director of Operations David Crist announced a slate of public-works items: street paving is planned to start after the July Fourth holiday on Lister Lane, Robins Court, Carol Lane, Second Street (Central to Sunrise) and Caroline to Sunset. Crist said contractor Bramble will provide a two-week notice so residents can arrange off-street parking.
Crist also reported that the Lister Estates grinder-pump agreement with Freemire will renew in August; the plan covers 63 homes. Beginning Aug. 1, 2026, homes that transfer ownership will exit the town agreement the following August; new owners may opt to enroll in Freemire's plan or secure their own private plan.
Zoning Administrator Melissa Leonard said code enforcement has identified many untagged vehicles and is prepared to begin issuing violations. Commissioner Chad Leister said he plans to present a finalized update to the town code and zoning ordinance addressing enforcement at the July 2026 town meeting.
A resident, Al Witkofsky, raised a related public-comment concern about contractor noise in the Sunrise Avenue subdivision, saying, "They have been working very early on Sunday mornings and the noise is an issue." The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
