The Louisa County Board of Supervisors approved several routine capital and budget actions at its May 18 meeting, voting unanimously on each item.
Playground contract: The board approved a cooperative contract to purchase and install playground equipment at the Betty Queen Center with a quoted project total of $58,796 (approximately $50,458 for equipment and installation and $8,338 for additional surfacing and products), and included a not-to-exceed allowance to cover potential rock-digging contingencies.
Fire & EMS budget transfer: The board authorized a budget transfer to the Fire & EMS account to cover overtime caused by double-staffing during training. Staff said the transfer moves funds freed by vacancies in the sheriff's office, dispatch and animal control and is not a net increase in the county budget.
Refuse and recycling CIP funding: Supervisors approved CIP funding to reconfigure the Bells area, repair concrete where compactors are bolted, add a second compactor and acquire six 30-yard open-top roll-off boxes for county refuse and recycling stations. Staff said the purchases address ongoing maintenance and will improve service across county stations.
All items were approved following presentations from staff, brief questions by supervisors and recorded unanimous votes.
