The Borough of Newfield added Resolution No. 38-26 to the agenda for its upcoming regular meeting on March 12, 2026, authorizing advertisement for the sale of borough-owned lands that are no longer needed for a public purpose under the Local Lands and Buildings Law. Solicitor Moustakas told the council he used fair market value to set minimum bids and advised that bidders must perform their own due diligence and obtain title insurance.
Clerk Toni L. Van Camp suggested making minimum bids for specific parcels more explicit, citing 2–4 North West Boulevard as an example. Moustakas said he would contact the municipal assessors to confirm current assessments before advertisements are issued. The work session did not include a vote on the resolution; the item was added to the regular meeting agenda for further consideration.
Council members also heard that a borough-wide reassessment will begin in late spring; officials said no reassessment has been completed since 2013–2014. Miss Renzi said she would place a one-call to residents and publish additional information on the borough website to explain the reassessment process and timetable. The council noted the Gloucester County Economic Board will meet March 26, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
No final decisions were made at the work session on the sale process; the resolution will appear on the regular meeting agenda for potential action. The work session adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
