Queenstown plans Halloween parade, may move tree lighting; resident asks for speed bumps on Comegys Lane

At the Oct. 23 meeting, the Events Committee reported two community items: the Halloween Parade on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. with a route from Town Center to Town Park and children's activities at the park, and a scheduling conflict for the town tree lighting because the Fire Department also participates in the Centreville parade. Committee member Becky Booth said she would contact tree lighting participants and the Ladies Auxiliary to see if Saturday would work and update the Town Office.
Separately, Public Works updates included a note that Republic should begin delivering trash carts within the next week. Commissioner Tom Willis and Public Works Foreman Bryan Miller will inspect a boom truck the town is considering purchasing.
During public comment, resident Donald Holland requested that the town consider installing one or two speed bumps on Comegys Lane to slow traffic; commissioners said they would consider the request but took no immediate action.
