North Bergen Board approves slate of appointments, raises and program hires

The North Bergen Board of Education unanimously approved a large slate of personnel actions and pay adjustments at its Nov. 20 regular meeting.
The board appointed Eugenia Ramos to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, effective Nov. 21, 2024, and Carrie Brady to Assistant School Business Administrator, also effective Nov. 21. The board approved Candice Anacker as Director of Basic Skills and named Daniel Ramirez Supervisor of Elementary Math at a salary of $114,820, effective Dec. 1, 2024. Motions to approve those appointments were recorded and passed by recorded vote.
The board also provisionally appointed new teachers and substitutes pending required certification and background checks, listing names and assigned schools in the resolutions. Resolutions approved provisional assignments for ACES aides, one-on-one aides, a clerk appointment (Maria Medrano), and a range of extra‑curricular advisors and coaches, including a volunteer wrestling coach at North Bergen High School.
Several salary adjustments and stipends were authorized. The board approved contractual salary adjustments for named staff, and specific stipends including a $3,000 “self-care” stipend (paid $300 monthly) for certain ACES aides and one‑on‑one aides performing additional duties. The board also approved a $2,500 stipend for Barbara Maietta for responsibilities in extended Title I programs and awarded prior-year stipends of $5,990 to Myriam Fiallos (listed across multiple resolutions). A recording of votes shows one abstention on Res. 18 (Diana Madrid’s adjustment) by Claudia Baselice; other listed personnel motions passed with ayes recorded.
The board approved credit recovery teacher appointments at $75 per hour and paid October credit‑recovery hours to a list of staff.
