Council authorizes $493,783 task order with ECM for FY25 road and pedestrian improvements

The Riverdale Park Mayor and Council on June 16 authorized the town manager to sign a task order contract with ECM for an amount not to exceed $493,783 to support FY25 streets, curb-ramp and walk-bike-drive safety improvements.
Staff explained the contract covers the FY25 road-improvement program and related walk/bike safety projects, and that the proposed authorization includes a 35% contingency to account for additional curb ramps and crosswalk/intersection items still being priced. Staff said the contingency amounts to roughly $128,018 and explained they prefer to approve the overall authorization rather than delay needed work while engineers finalize cost estimates.
Council members asked for project lists and timing. Public-works staff said the detailed project list is in the staff report (crosswalks on Riverdale Road at several intersections) and offered to circulate a spreadsheet and return with a contractor timeline; the contractor is expected to start within about 10–15 days after notice to proceed, staff said.
A motion to authorize the manager to sign the ECM task order contract was moved, seconded and approved by roll call, 6–0.
Council did not adopt contract details beyond the authorization; staff said individual work orders and contractor cost proposals for contingency items will be reviewed and brought forward as appropriate.
