Chief Springer encouraged community participation and noted tickets are available from the fire department. Parks staff described a Rib Fest grilling and smoking competition on the same day, expecting about 18'20 teams; samples are due by about 1 p.m., judging runs roughly noon to 3:30 p.m., and rib tickets cost $2 per sample. Staff also reminded the public of a Bloomfield Park neighborhood meeting July 8 to discuss proposed playground replacements, a Port Authority meeting July 21 at 6 p.m., and Night to Unite on Aug. 4 (5-9 p.m.).
