At its Jan. 6 reorganization meeting the New Hanover Township Committee approved Resolutions 2026-01 through 2026-35 by omnibus motion, with two amendments noted prior to the roll-call vote.
Mayor Peterla presented the consent agenda and the committee identified two amendments: Resolution 2026-02 (professional appointments) was to be updated to reflect that Bowman and Company has merged with PKF O’Connor Davies; Resolution 2026-11 was amended to reflect changes in publishing notices consistent with recent Sunshine Law updates allowing digital publication. Committeeman Murphy asked that Resolution 2026-29, the appointment of the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, be removed from the consent agenda for separate consideration.
A motion to approve Resolutions 2026-01 through 2026-28 as amended and Resolutions 2026-29 through 2026-35 passed on a roll-call vote recorded as unanimous for the omnibus motion. The committee then took a separate vote on Resolution 2026-29 appointing Patrick Murphy as the township Office of Emergency Management Coordinator; Committeeman Rick Koshak moved the motion, Deputy Mayor Pawlyzyn seconded and the roll call recorded four ayes and one abstention by Murphy (4-0-1), carrying the appointment.
Other items in the consent package included establishing meeting dates and times for 2026, temporary budget appropriations, designation of official newspapers and various municipal appointments and administrative authorizations. The committee also approved payment of the bill list by unanimous roll call.
The Committee’s minutes note the auditor-merger update and the shift to digital publishing for statutory notices; those administrative corrections were made before the omnibus vote.
