Middletown adopts parking and solid-waste ordinances; introduces $3.01 million parks bond

The committee introduced ordinance 2026-3500, authorizing acceptance of a deed of road dedication affecting Block 491, Lots 56.01 and 56.02835 and 837 Main Street; a public hearing on that ordinance was scheduled for March 16, 2026. The committee also introduced bond ordinance 2026-3501, which proposes an appropriation of $3,010,000 for various parks improvements and authorizes issuance of $2,859,500 in bonds or notes to finance part of the appropriation; a public hearing on the bond ordinance is set for March 16, 2026.
The committee adopted a consent agenda that included resolutions 26-90 through 26-97. No detailed discussion of the consent items occurred on the record at this meeting.
During committee discussion following the consent agenda, Tony (town staff) said the township recently acquired the former Lincroft Presbyterian Church (West Front Street and Everett Road) and a property at 127 Hubbard (the former Stavola property). He proposed naming the first site the West Front Street Community Center and the Hubbard property Tigger Stavola Park, noting the naming was part of the purchase agreement for the latter. Tony said a resolution formally naming the properties will be prepared for the committee’s next meeting.
Why it matters: the bond ordinance would fund parks work countywide and represents a $3.01 million capital appropriation that, if adopted after public hearing, would authorize the township to issue approximately $2.86 million in bonds. The introductions carry a March 16 public hearing date; the committee gave no final approval at the March 2 meeting.
