Council reviews electronic-sign recommendations, Edwards Building permit delay and FEMA cleanup progress

During Old Business at the Jan. 13 council meeting, Councilman Berry reviewed recommendations from Mr. Willie Bethay regarding the town's electronic sign and said the packet of recommendations would be reviewed with the town administrator before council takes action.
Mayor Holmes told the council that the contractor hired to remove the Edwards Building is awaiting a permit from Edgefield County before demolition can proceed. Holmes also updated the council on FEMA's Hurricane Helene cleanup, saying it is about 65% complete and that full completion is expected by the end of March. Council members additionally noted the Edgefield County Genealogical Society's recent soft opening of its new facility, which received compliments from attendees.
