The Brentwood Public Safety Commission voted Jan. 28 to continue the city’s participation in the Missouri Ground Emergency Medical Transportation (GEMT) Uncompensated Cost Reimbursement Program for FY25 and to authorize an updated fee schedule under the amended agreement.
Alderman Jeff Gould moved to continue participation and authorize the updated fee schedules; Alderwoman Sunny Sims seconded the motion. The roll-call vote was unanimous (Sims, Gould, Harter, Plufka — all aye) and the motion carried.
Minutes state there is no out-of-pocket cost to the city or residents if the Board continues participation. The minutes summarize program mechanics: the GEMT program reimburses uncompensated costs for qualifying emergency ambulance services to Missouri HealthNet participants for services on or after July 1, 2017. Per state statute noted in the minutes, the State of Missouri is entitled to recover a 20% collection fee from funds reimbursed from the federal government. Public Consulting Group (PCG) will prepare paperwork and represent the city for a fee of 12% of the balance remaining after Missouri’s 20% recovery for fee-for-service claims; the amended agreement also lists a 9% fee for GEMT Medicaid Managed Care Organization claims.
