Chaffee council adopts eight ordinances updating licensing, vehicle and utility rules

Chaffee, Mo. — The City of Chaffee’s council adopted a package of eight ordinance amendments during its Dec. 1 regular meeting, approving updates to local animal licensing, off‑road and small vehicle rules, building permit fees and water service charges.
The city attorney presented Bill Nos. 2025-03 through 2025-10. Council members conducted two readings of each bill by title only and moved to adopt each ordinance; all measures passed unanimously. The ordinance subjects and local codes identified in the meeting minutes are: Ordinance No. 205.020 (animal regulations — license required), 340.110 (all-terrain vehicles — special permits/operation on streets), 340.115 (utility vehicles — operation restrictions), 340.116 (golf carts — operation on streets and alleys), 405.270 (height and area exceptions and modifications), 500.020 (interpretation of internal building code and establishment of building fee permits), 700.200 (deposits required before water turned on — amount) and 700.210 (water main tap fee).
Adopting motions were recorded for each bill (for example, Bill No. 2025-03 was adopted on a motion by Councilman Danny Finley, seconded by Tara Golightly). Meeting minutes show each adoption followed the required two readings by title and a unanimous roll call of members present.
The council did not record extended debate on the ordinance package in the minutes; each item received procedural readings and then adoption. The ordinances will become part of the City of Chaffee municipal code according to the usual effective‑date rules for local ordinances unless otherwise specified in the texts themselves.
