Council approves moving forward with solid waste RFP that adds curbside clean-up pricing

City Administrator Adam Kofoed summarized a key change in the draft Solid Waste and Recycling Request for Proposal: the RFP asks bidders to provide a price for curbside citywide clean-up days instead of operating a drop-off site. Kofoed said the change is intended to make it easier for residents to dispose of large household items they cannot otherwise remove.
Council member Colton Miller asked whether the city was still considering establishing in-house trash and recycling collection. Kofoed said he had looked into the feasibility and determined that the cost would be too prohibitive for the city to undertake collection directly. Mayor Roger Laughlin directed Kofoed to move forward with the RFP and the proposed timeline.
