Brentwood to pursue county waste-reduction funds for electronics, shredding and first-time latex-paint recycling events

Public works representative Dan told the committee the county approved Brentwood for up to $25,000 for a suite of waste-reduction events including electronics and paper-shredding events and two new latex-paint recycling events. The city had requested $10,000; the county raised the award limit because it factors the positive value of county residency for participants.
Dan said the next step is for the Board of Aldermen to approve a resolution; once approved, the county will return a contract for the city’s signature and the city may be reimbursed for event costs after submitting receipts. Committee members from the sustainability commission volunteered to help staff the May events.
Alderman (unnamed) moved to forward the resolution to the Board of Aldermen; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Dan will draft and present the resolution at the next full board meeting.
