Council rejects Taussig Avenue concrete‑plant permit after divided votes

The Bridgeton City Council declined to approve a special‑use permit for a proposed concrete batch plant on Taussig Avenue after members cited traffic, neighborhood character and general welfare concerns.
Hayden Ginsberg, who identified himself as the engineer for the proposed plant and said representatives from the developer BMC Enterprises and Eastern Missouri Concrete were available to answer council questions, spoke during public comment in support of responding to questions. Council members debated findings of fact related to traffic conditions and neighborhood impacts; Council member Luke noted concerns about traffic and voted against the proposal, saying he found adverse impacts. Council member Hood disagreed on the traffic impact but the motion failed.
After procedural motions and attempts to revisit the bill, the council recorded a final count that left the measure without the required support and bill 65‑17 failed.
