Hamilton aldermen approve solid-waste contract extension after mayor breaks tie, elect clerk and appoint board president

The Hamilton Board of Aldermen on April 9 approved an extension of the city's solid waste contract with R&W Containers LLC after Mayor Cole Crawford cast the tie-breaking vote.
During the second reading of Bill 0302025 the board voted 2'2 on the roll: Cameron Fast and Robert Grant voted no; Deedie Esry and Toni Schmidt voted yes. Mayor Cole Crawford broke the tie by voting yes, approving the contract extension.
Also at the meeting the board completed the second reading and approval of Bill 040225 to elect a city clerk; the motion to approve passed unanimously. Later, by Resolution 2025-5, the board appointed Robert Grant as president of the board; that motion passed with Grant abstaining from the vote.
Mayor Cole Crawford presided over the meeting. The votes were recorded in open session; the minutes show the motions, seconds, and roll-call tallies for each contested item. The council also addressed routine agenda items including approval of minutes and review of bills during the meeting.
The board moved into a closed session later in the evening under RSMo 610.021(1) for personnel and legal matters and reconvened before adjourning at 7:45 p.m.
