Library asks to take city phones to new location; committee asks IT to assess costs and spares

Gould noted that negotiated bulk prices typically mean the retail cost is significantly higher, and that if the city reimbursed at the low, negotiated rate the city might be unable to purchase the same quantity at that price later.
Staff and members discussed future phone needs for the new public works facility and whether IT keeps spare phones on hand. Bola and Michelle said they will ask the IT director how many phones remain in inventory, whether the city could purchase replacements at the same discounted rate, and bring those answers back at the next meeting. The committee did not decide to transfer the phones at this meeting and deferred the decision pending IT’s input.
Next steps: IT will inventory phones and report on spare units and replacement pricing; staff will return this item to the committee for a decision once those details are available.
