Hamilton, Mo. — On Jan. 12 the City of Hamilton Park Board voted to advance a $60,500 estimate from contractor Trey Lund for upgrades to concessions, storage and restrooms at the city fields so the project can be presented to the Hamilton City Council. Park board member Gina Silkwood made the motion; the motion was recorded as passed and board member Shawn Schlyer abstained from the vote because he had assisted Lund with his bid on plumbing-related items.
The estimate, as presented in the board’s minutes, covers work at the city fields’ concession and restroom areas; the board recorded that two additional bids will be required before council review. The board’s clerk recorded no additional financial items at the meeting and did not note a funding source or timeline for the work.
The board also received a report from its sports committee: 98 players have signed up for the current basketball season. Separately, the board asked the city’s Public Works department to take down fencing and break up asphalt at the tennis courts when crews have time; the minutes note the fence may be salvageable for reuse.
The motion to move the Lund estimate forward was made by Park board member Gina Silkwood; the minutes do not record who seconded the motion. According to the attendance list in the minutes, board members in attendance were Courtenay Hughes, Brandon Smith, Lisa Moore, Mark Vollmer, Rick Morgan, Gina Silkwood and Shawn Schlyer; guests listed were Leslie Bretz and Lauren Dannar (attending remotely). The minutes state the motion passed and record one abstention by Schlyer. The clerk recorded the meeting’s adjournment at 5:54 p.m. and scheduled the next meeting for Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
What happens next: the board indicated it will obtain two additional bids and then present the project to the city council for consideration; the minutes do not specify a funding source or a city-council meeting date.
