Edmore council approves licenses, pays bills and adopts ordinance changing council pay

During its March 10 meeting the Edmore Village Council unanimously approved three license renewals, approved payment of bills, ordered citation materials for code enforcement, noted a museum transfer to the village, and passed an ordinance amending trustee and officer compensation by a 4-3 roll-call vote.
The Edmore Village Council handled several routine and administrative items at its March 10 regular meeting, approving license renewals, payments, and an ordinance adjusting council compensation.
The council unanimously approved license renewals for NS1, Grower Consultants and HBScru; motions to approve those renewals were made and supported and each passed on voice votes recorded as 7-0. Treasurer Shirley Drain reported the February books balanced and Councilmember Colburn moved to pay the bills; Griswold supported and the voice vote carried 7-0.
On municipal operations, Manager Mark Borden reported that the village closed on transfer of ownership of the Old Fence Rider Museum to the Village of Edmore on March 7, 2025 and that DPW continues routine equipment repairs; he also reported a sewer backup at 830 S. First St. and said a new manhole will be installed at that location. Borden told the council Dr. Kinser of Edmore Family Dentistry has been given until Aug. 31, 2025 to be removed from the village sewer system or to take ownership of the system.
The council also formed a small committee (Pierce and McParland) to plan 2025 Christmas decorations and discussed but did not adopt a fee for water shut-off door tags.
Councilmember McParland moved and Colburn seconded an ordinance amendment to Ordinance No. 2015-1 to increase trustee compensation to $200 and to raise the president, treasurer and clerk compensation to $300; the roll-call vote passed 4-3 with yes votes from Colburn, Griswold, McParland and Pierce and no votes from Kanine, Moore and President Guild.
Public comments included questions about grow license renewal cadence and calls for the council to act on the museum building because of community concern about rumors; a resident also expressed frustration about marijuana-related revenue and property taxes. The regular meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
