The Edmore Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a variance that will let Montcalm Care Network extend an existing 6-foot fence to wrap around the front east side of its adult foster-care (AFC) home at 610 S. Fifth.
Manager Mark Borden described the proposal and said the extended fencing is intended to ensure the safety of residents when they are outdoors. Council members discussed the logistics of fence placement before McParland moved to grant the variance; the motion was seconded by Colburn and passed 7-0.
No public comments were recorded during this public hearing. The variance carries no immediate municipal cost in the minutes; the record focuses on placement logistics and resident safety.
The ZBA adjourned that public hearing at 7:20 p.m. and the council resumed its regular meeting.
