Chair opened the meeting and asked members whether they were prepared to move the minutes of the May 12 special session on the district’s AI policy; members approved the minutes by voice consent. Miss Kitten, who presented the legal and PSBA recommendations, summarized clarifying edits; Mr. Held noted possible duplication on a leave-of-absence provision and committee members agreed to keep the board responsibility in the policy and remove it from the administrative regulations if necessary. Following brief discussion the committee moved Policy 140 to the legislative meeting.
Members reviewed the proposed consolidation of dress-and-grooming policies (02/21, 03/25) and the recommendation to repeal Policies 4-25 and 5-25 and combine staff provisions under Policy 3-25. The presenter said the updates reflected requirements from the recently passed CROWN Act; committee members suggested word-choice and cross-reference edits and agreed to advance the consolidated policies.
The committee examined the threat-assessment policy required by Pennsylvania school code. Members pressed administration to clarify where delegation of duties should appear, how notification procedures would operate, whether the district should report threat counts by category or risk level, and how mandated-reporting obligations intersect with the threat-assessment team. Administration indicated the district already classifies risks and can add clarifying language; the committee agreed to move the item forward for first reading.
Other items advanced included the working-periods policy (3.32), an audit-policy update to reflect changes in auditing authority (6.19), and Policy 904 on public attendance at events. Committee members flagged formatting problems and suggested restoring some welcoming language and consistent references to prohibited items; the committee approved forwarding the policy with edits.
All items were advanced for further consideration at the legislative meeting by voice consent during the session. No formal roll-call votes with named tallies were recorded in the committee meeting minutes; the transcript records multiple members saying “yes” or giving a thumbs up to indicate assent. The committee set its next meeting for Aug. 19 and adjourned.
