Hamilton park board advances disc golf course; Wallace Foundation gives $2,500 for concrete

At its Nov. 10 meeting, the City of Hamilton Park Board recorded a $2,500 donation from the Wallace Foundation earmarked for concrete pads at the new disc golf course and confirmed that the first pads will be poured Friday at noon using Jamesport Concrete.
Minutes show the Wood Shed in Cameron donated rebar for the course, and the board plans to place a few sets of discs at the Penney Library for public checkout. Guest Lauren Dannar is checking with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on where port‑a‑potties can be located at the course; the board noted it currently has two portable units plus one handicap unit at the school.
The board also agreed to solicit sponsors for individual holes once construction is complete and to list project partners on signage, including Coles’ parents, the Wood Shed, the Wallace Foundation and Jamesport Concrete. The minutes say the water plant remains about 10 years from being recreational because work on Little Otter Creek has not yet occurred.
The park board is coordinating logistics and community partnerships as the course moves from planning to construction. The next board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
