Mayor Cole Crawford and City Administrator Lauren Dannar told the board that the city attorney recommended a review of existing ordinances to clarify which responsibilities belong to the mayor and which belong to the city administrator. The board voted to form a Nuisance Committee and an Organizational Committee and to appoint members to each group.
The Nuisance Committee membership includes: Cole Crawford, Cameron Fast, Toni Schmidt and J.C. Kirkendoll. The Organizational Committee membership includes: Cole Crawford, Toni Schmidt, Leslie Bretz, Deedie Esry, J.C. Kirkendoll, and Wade Reed (as recorded in the minutes). The board did not record a formal motion text in the minutes beyond agreeing to form the committees and appoint members.
The committees are tasked with reviewing nuisance codes and organizational ordinances and returning recommendations to the board. The move follows earlier discussion in the meeting about hiring a code enforcement officer and reviewing nuisance-code enforcement procedures.
The board set no public deadline for the committees’ reports in the minutes. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
