ELBERTA, Mich. — The Elberta Village Council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with Katherine Ralston at a July 29 special meeting that lays out staffing steps should Ralston choose to reduce her hours.
The memorandum, reviewed alongside comments from Attorney Bryan Graham, says that if Ralston decides to change her hours to part‑time she would apply for a part‑time deputy position and the council would begin a search for a new Clerk‑Treasurer, which the council described as a full‑time job.
Ken Holmes moved to approve the memorandum with the attorney's suggestions incorporated; Brett McGregor seconded. The council recorded a roll‑call vote: Brett McGregor — Aye; Emily Votruba — Aye; Ken Holmes — Aye; Ryan Fiebing — Aye; Jennifer Wilkins — Aye. The motion passed unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the council deferred approval of the July minutes to the August meeting and approved the special meeting agenda on a separate motion by Pro Tempore Emily Votruba, seconded by Ryan Fiebing. No members of the public offered comments during the brief or extended public comment periods.
The council also announced upcoming meetings: the Planning Commission will meet Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m., and the Zoning Board of Appeals will meet Aug. 15 at 6 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:29 a.m. by Ken Holmes. Final minutes were prepared and posted on the village website by Trustee Emily Votruba.
