Edmore council approves pay raise for trustees in 4-3 vote

Trustee Michael McParland moved the measure and Trustee Colburn seconded. A roll-call vote showed Colburn, Griswold, McParland and Pierce in favor; Kanine, Moore and President Chet Guild opposed. Guild stated for the record that he does not wish to accept the pay increase.
Supporters said compensation had not kept pace with inflation; opponents raised concerns about optics and timing amid budget deliberations. The minutes record discussion among council members but do not attribute extended remarks to individual trustees.
The measure takes effect immediately as a change to council compensation unless otherwise specified in future action. The council adjourned at 8:18 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for March 10, 2025.
