The Village of Ellsworth Council on March 9 carried a series of unanimous motions, including appointing Councilman Mike Bennett as the village’s representative to the Chain of Lakes committee, approving 2025–26 budget amendments, and approving the bills as presented.
The meeting opened with a motion by M. Bennett, seconded by D. Ruis, to accept the minutes of the Feb. 9, 2026 regular meeting; the motion carried 6-0. Later, a motion by S. Sowers, seconded by S. Dhillon, appointed Councilman Mike Bennett as the village representative to the Chain of Lakes committee; that motion carried 6-0.
Council then approved 2025–26 budget amendments on a motion by Mike Bennett, seconded by S. Sowers (carried 6-0), and approved the bills as presented on a motion by S. Sowers, seconded by Mike Bennett (carried 6-0). The meeting closed on a motion by Mike Bennett, seconded by Don Ruis, to adjourn at 7:05 p.m., recorded as carried 6-0.
Departmental reports included Recreation updates: S. Dhillon said the new recreation director has begun signing children up for youth leagues and is moving forward with fundraising events. Clerk Marlene Drenth presented a scholarship opportunity for local high school students. No formal action on the pig roast temporary structure request was recorded.
