Butte-Silver Bow Library Director Stephanie Johnson requested council concurrence on a $39,000 grant to install solar panels on the upper library roof. Commissioner Shea had segregated the item to confirm the match requirement before the deadline.
Director Hausler (speaking for administration) told commissioners the identified match includes a roughly $15,000 state contribution plus library revenues (book sales and other receipts) and that the library’s annual operating budget is roughly $50,000, which covers the local match. Johnson offered no additional remarks. Commissioner Morgan said he had referred the item to the finance committee to verify the match; after staff confirmation the commission voted 12–0 to concur and place the communication on file.
The award will allow the library to move forward with the panel installation pending typical implementation steps and oversight by library administration.
