River Park project needs engineering; Paddle Antrim seeks River Park launch Sept. 18–20

Guest speaker Dave Muha told the Village of Ellsworth Council that the VanDellen/River Park improvement project cannot move forward without professional engineering and completion of the village's Recreation Plan, which is a prerequisite for many grant applications. He said docks are scheduled to be installed in the spring and that signage for the site will read "Doc's Docks."
"We need professional engineering to proceed," Muha said during his update. The council was told the Recreation Plan must be completed before the village can apply for grants to finance the project.
Deana Jerdee, representing Paddle Antrim, asked the council for permission to launch the festival from River Park this year. She said the event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 20, and noted that the 2025 Paddle drew more than 200 paddlers from 14 states. Jerdee offered Paddle Antrim's help with River Park improvements after the organization's current fundraising commitments are fulfilled.
Council members did not vote on the River Park project or grant applications at the meeting; discussion focused on next steps needed to qualify for external funding and on scheduling dock installation for spring. No firm grant applications or award amounts were announced.
