Council places on file $499,000 miscellaneous concrete contract for Superfund-area stormwater work

Commissioners reviewed a proposed contract with D & M Builders for the 2026 miscellaneous concrete project (communication 2026-6349). Public Works representative Zane Gleeson said the work is chiefly curbing and stormwater infrastructure in Superfund areas (some Missoula Street patches, piping and sediment controls) rather than a city sidewalk program. The contract amount is near $499,000.
Commissioner Fisher pressed for clarity about how an open-ended “miscellaneous concrete” bid would be administered, what unit quantities of concrete and piping were included, and how the contractor will be compensated for materials and labor. Gleeson said the bid package included estimated volumes and piping material quantities and that an engineering firm produced the estimates used for the bid. Commissioners asked for and the chief executive requested a project report during implementation so the commission can monitor what is completed and where funds were spent.
The commission voted to concur and place the communication on file (12–0). Staff agreed to provide a project report as the work progresses.
