Council reviews Solid Waste Authority support letter, resiliency committee plans and other administrative items
Summary

Under New Business, council members reviewed a letter from the Solid Waste Authority expressing support for an expansion; members agreed that further investigation and discussion are advisable before any council member signs the letter on behalf of the town.
Councilwoman Jennifer Kuperman announced the newly formed Resiliency + Sustainability Committee and invited the committee to the April Council Workshop for Resilience 101 training to be conducted by Britt Harley of the South Carolina Office of Resilience. Councilman Sam Miller requested Horry County specifications needed to apply for CTC repaving funds and said the clerk may request funding and placement on the CTC agenda once specifications are received.
Other routine items: Mayor Buonviri said the Town will host the October League of Cities meeting and the landscape crew will prepare the gates for seasonal flowers; Councilwoman Pendley is finalizing gate flower orders, a heritage brick brochure and website updates. Chief Kyle Lamparter noted a police vehicle auction concluding March 2; if no bidder is received, the vehicle will be sold to a local dealership. Clerk Jennifer Newbold reported personnel assignments and reporting times for the Fire Wise program are set. There was no public input, and the workshop adjourned at 5:51 p.m.
Next steps: staff will undertake the due diligence on the Solid Waste Authority request, compile repaving specifications from Horry County for the CTC application, and bring any drafted documents or proposals back to the council for action.
