Council discussed Ordinance 2026.001, which would amend Section 30.03 of the Town Code (Meetings of Council) to modify how regular meetings are scheduled. Town Attorney Pete Balthazor explained that "the proposed amendment would establish the fourth Monday of each month as the default meeting date while allowing Council to be able to change the dates when approving and posting the annual meeting calendar, consistent with public notice requirements." He also said the ordinance should clarify who is authorized to call special meetings and supported adding the Town Manager alongside the Mayor or a majority of Council, to better align with Council-Manager practice.
Councilman R. McKenrick moved to approve first reading of Ordinance 2026.001 as amended; Councilwoman T. Hovis seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The ordinance will return for a second reading at a future meeting after public notice and required posting.
