Blythewood council approves release of letters of credit for Abney Hills Phase 3 and Ashley Oaks 9A/9B

The Blythewood Town Council on Nov. 24 authorized staff to release the developer letters of credit covering completed infrastructure work for Abney Hills Phase 3 and Ashley Oaks Phases 9A and 9B after verification by Richland County inspectors.
The motion to release the letters of credit was made by Councilman Rich McKenrick, seconded by Councilman D. Brock, and passed unanimously, 5–0. A representative of Stanley Martin, Sue Green, told the council that Ashley Oaks Phase 8 has also reached completion but was not included on the current agenda and will be presented at the Dec. 15 meeting. Ms. Green stated HOA formation for Ashley Oaks is in process and that management remains under MJS until turnover.
Ms. Green also confirmed that Mount Valley Road is the only roadway connection into Abney Hills on the eastern side and that no additional access points currently exist. Council directed Ms. Green to coordinate with staff to ensure future items are listed on the agenda.
Next steps: staff will process the letter-of-credit releases and bring any additional completed phases (including Ashley Oaks Phase 8) forward for Council approval at subsequent meetings.
