Fairgrove fire department to distribute smoke alarms; council sends updated fire contract to attorney

Fire Prevention Week activities including a poster contest and judging were noted with judging scheduled Oct. 8 at 4:00 p.m. at Village Hall; the winner will proceed to county judging Oct. 21 at the TEC Center.
On intergovernmental matters, Smith said invoices had been mailed to townships and that documentation for Rescue 11 was received and will be emailed to townships. Council also agreed (motion by Harrison, second Sebert) to send an updated fire contract to the attorney; the motion carried 4-0.
During audience recognition an item referencing 'Filkins Fire Run 2024-031' included the statement, 'not going to pay see you in court,' regarding an illegal-burn invoice. The transcript records the claim but no council resolution or payment-change at that time.
