Fairgrove advances Center Street East paving, approves $1,800 tree-removal bid

The Village of Fairgrove council on Oct. 7 approved signing NEPA paperwork for the Center Street East project and advanced several public-works items, including a contractor hire for tree removal.
Council member Harrison moved to sign the NEPA paperwork for Center Street East; Spencer seconded and the motion carried 4-0. Young said he had spoken with Green from the Tuscola County Road Commission (TCRC) and that the plan is to pave Circle & Park before frost; Thomas will prepare scope and phasing for Circle & Park instead of using Spicer.
On tree removal, the council reviewed two estimates to remove a poplar and approved Mid-Michigan's bid for $1,800, subject to the contractor providing proof of license and insurance. The motion passed 4-0 after a roll-call vote (Yes: Sebert, Harrison, Spencer, Young).
Other public-works items discussed included a first sewer pump installed but not yet wired, vacuum-truck parts costs, and the need for estimates to repair or replace a front-end loader. Downtown tree replacement was tabled until spring.
Next steps: Thomas will provide a detailed scope and phasing plan for Circle & Park; the village will execute standard contractor verification for the approved tree-removal bid.
