The Trappe Town Council approved a request from Nace’s Day chair Yvonne Freeman on Sept. 4 to close Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road from 1 to 4 pm on Nov. 2 so the community parade (1 pm) and associated festivities can proceed safely.
Freeman also requested use of Nace’s Park, Veterans’ Park and the open lot behind Veterans’ Park for event activities. Sgt. Aita said he would coordinate street-closure logistics with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office; Commissioner Jeremy Newnam said the local fire department has barricades that could be used. The council’s approval was unanimous.
The council directed staff and public-safety partners to coordinate details and confirm equipment and staffing ahead of the event.
