After reviewing a consultant’s estimate for repairing approximately 1.3 miles of walking paths — from Horseshoe Bend Parkway toward the swim and tennis area — trustees approved a motion to prepare and issue public bids for the Cherokee/Lynn Creek section.
Trustees said the estimate ran higher than expected and discussed options for phasing: targeted removal and replacement for the worst segments, overlay in other spots and temporary crack filling where appropriate. The village insurance agent had previously urged that the board address hazardous walking surfaces promptly to reduce liability exposure. Trustees instructed staff to prepare the bid package and said they would explore potential coordination with the POA and county commissioners on funding.
Board members emphasized starting with the highest‑risk areas so residents can see progress and the village can show insurers it is addressing safety issues. Staff agreed to get bid documents together within a week or two so the village can solicit competitive pricing and schedule the work.
Next steps: staff will draft the bid package, coordinate site visits with prospective contractors and return bid results to the board for award and scheduling.
