After the second solicitation, the lowest responsive bid came from JF Contractors at $467,485, which Eastern Engineering reviewed and recommended for award.
Town Manager Kippton W. Coker asked council to allow him to execute the contract and use the remaining balance from the original $500,000 to cover engineering costs associated with the project. Councilman Stan Williamson moved to authorize the award; Councilman Chris Williams seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
The council discussed that the renovation aims to improve the facilities to support travel baseball opportunities, but specific construction timelines and start dates were not specified at the meeting. The council did not amend the dollar amounts reported by the finance director.
The council vote to authorize the contract was unanimous. Next steps are for the town manager to execute the contract consistent with the council’s authorization and for staff to report schedule and procurement updates at a future meeting.
