The Sheffield Select Board accepted several resignations, appointed volunteers to town committees and approved a curb cut at 246 County Road during its July 6 meeting.
Chair announced the resignations of Caden Shavirov and Matthew Mercier from the police department, Shauna Roche from the treasurer-collector’s office, Bonnie Silvers from the school committee and Judith Rineour from the Cultural Council. The board moved to accept each resignation and send letters of thanks; votes were recorded as affirmative with two “Aye” responses for each motion.
The board appointed Kathy Orlando to the Agricultural Commission, Megan Lawrence to the Cultural Council, Nadine Howard to the Planning Board (alternate) and Pat Levine to the Zoning Board of Appeals. The chair noted the town has a long list of remaining volunteer vacancies and invited residents to write to the new town administrator or the select board to express interest.
The board also approved a curb cut application for Ken and Amy (transcript shows both 'Pasquale' and 'Pascual' spellings) at 246 County Road to allow a gravel driveway to a new garage; the police chief and highway superintendent had signed their approval and Oates Construction will perform the work.
During public comment, Stephanie D'Angelo, youth services manager at the public library, said the library bathrooms had not been cleaned in about seven weeks and asked for more frequent, thorough custodial service ahead of a scheduled event. The board and a committee member said highway department staff had been performing limited cleaning (trash removal and vacuuming) and that the town is actively recruiting for a janitorial replacement.
The board adjourned at the end of the meeting.
