Council approves brewery for Olympics Plaza; liquor license and remodel still required

Ferrysburg — The City Council voted June 16 to approve a special land use and site plan for a brewery at 17697 174th Avenue in Olympics Plaza.
City staff said the Planning Commission had held a public hearing and recommended approval; the commission raised parking but concluded the existing lot and the brewery's hours meant parking would not be problematic. "They did recommend to city council to approve that," Craig said during the presentation.
A councilmember moved for approval; the motion carried and council recorded the approval. Staff noted the operator must obtain required liquor licensing from the Liquor Control Commission and complete interior remodel work before opening.
Councilmembers said they had previously considered the same operator for a different downtown location and were supportive of the new site in Olympics Plaza, noting Saturday parking constraints in other locations but finding this site adequate.
Next steps include the operator pursuing the state liquor license and completing building improvements and inspections before beginning service.
