Farmington council appoints members to advisory commissions, asks attorney to review adding alternates

Farmington — The City Council on April 20 approved three appointments to local advisory commissions and directed the city attorney to examine options for adding more alternate members.
In a motion by Councilmember Maria Taylor, seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Johnna Balk, the council appointed Annalee Voigtman to the Beautification Commission for a term expiring June 30, 2029, and appointed Eriana DeKalita-Mull to the Beautification Commission for a partial term expiring June 30, 2027. The motion carried unanimously, 4-0.
Separately, Balk moved and Taylor seconded the appointment of Danielle Mahoney to the Historical Commission for a term expiring March 31, 2029; that motion also passed unanimously, 4-0.
Council discussed that there are currently more interested candidates than available positions on some commissions and asked the City Attorney to review the possibility of adding additional alternate members and return recommendations to a future council meeting.
City Manager David Murphy also reminded councilmembers that the proposed 2026–27 budget had been distributed and asked them to contact him with any questions.
The appointments were made during a special meeting called to order by Mayor Joe LaRussa at 6:34 p.m. on April 20 at City Hall. No public comment was recorded for the item.
The council minutes record the votes as unanimous among the four members present: Johnna Balk, Joe LaRussa, Kevin Parkins and Maria Taylor.
