Fairgrove fire department reports increased runs; council approves $865 for tech upgrades

The Village of Fairgrove’s fire department reported a year‑to‑date increase in emergency runs and asked the council to approve minor technology and facility requests.
Chief Young told the council the department had recorded 56 runs as of Aug. 1, up from 34 at the same point last year. Chief Young also said Rescue 11 was out of service for repairs and that inventory of department equipment remains incomplete; the minutes note donated supplies and two hydration packs obtained through a Drip‑Drop grant.
Council members approved an $865 estimate from Gugel Tech to update Fire Department technology after a motion from Harrison and second from Sebert; the roll‑call vote was recorded as yes—Sebert, Harrison and Young, carrying the motion 3‑0‑1. The volunteer department’s request to use the village hall Sept. 1 for a pancake breakfast was also approved.
The minutes record no further contingency or conditions connected to the upgrades or the event. The department said it will continue to address outstanding inventory and equipment returns.
