Hasbrouck Heights details multiple road and park projects after engineer report

Neglia Engineering told the council that a bundle of NJDOT, CDBG and county grants will fund resurfacing, ADA ramp work and park upgrades across Hasbrouck Heights, including awards for Kipp Avenue Phase II, Baldwin/Cleveland work, and $100,000 for accessible equipment at Woodland Park.
Neglia Engineering presented a consolidated project update to the Hasbrouck Heights Mayor and Council on Jan. 13, outlining several funded roadway and park efforts now moving toward construction or close-out.
The report identified multiple grant awards: a FY2025 NJDOT grant of $228,060 for Kipp Avenue Roadway Improvements Phase II, a Municipal Aid award of $259,121 for work on Baldwin Avenue and Cleveland Avenue, and a 2025 Bergen County Community Development Block Grant of $103,988 for Berkshire Road improvements. Neglia also reported two Bergen County Municipal Park Improvement reallocated grants of $62,750 and $50,000 for Miers Park play-area and pavilion replacement and a $100,000 award to install accessible exercise equipment at Woodland Park. Neglia said the Collins/ Washington/ Wood Street project was substantially complete as of Sept. 12, 2025, and that Cleveland Avenue punch-list items remain to be closed out.
The engineer’s narrative included project scopes: asphalt milling and resurfacing, reconstruction of ADA curb ramps, striping, spot curb and sidewalk repairs, and selective tree removals or plantings as needed. Neglia noted the Borough has an active FY2026 CDBG application and is coordinating multiple federal, state and county funding sources for construction phases.
Neglia also summarized a conceptual planning effort for a new Department of Public Works facility and recalled that an earlier Resilient Communities Program application was denied; staff and consultants plan to resubmit documentation during the next solicitation window.
The report will be appended to meeting records; council members asked that the Borough continue to provide public updates as projects advance and punch-list items are completed.
