Trappe schedules bidders' meeting for influent bar screen RFP, defers lead-line amendment pending funds

Town Administrator Erin Braband presented four bid packages for the town’s influent bar screen rehabilitation or replacement, and the council requested a follow-up meeting with Bearing Construction and GMB on Dec. 4, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. to review differences between the two proposed screen options.
The council also reviewed a proposed contract amendment from Davis, Bowen and Friedel to extend services on the town’s lead line inventory. The council indicated it would like to continue the firm’s work but agreed to defer final action until it has a clearer picture of available funds after the influent bar screen RFP is awarded, Braband said.
Commissioner Jeremy Newnam asked Administrator Braband to consult with Attorney Ryan about whether and how the town can allocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for sewer liner installations after the town receives the sewer camera and jetting report, noting the short timeframe for ARPA-eligible expenditures. The council did not take a formal vote on ARPA allocation at the workshop.
Next steps: the council will meet with Bearing Construction and GMB on Dec. 4 to clarify the two proposed screen options; funding decisions for the lead line inventory amendment will await the RFP award and the town’s available budget.
