Gilford Library reports steady circulation, donor gift for senior programming and plans for summer events

At the March 11 Gilford Library Board meeting trustees heard a collection of operational reports that outlined staffing, programming and finances ahead of spring events.
Staff reported total circulation was similar to February 2025, with a modest decrease in unique users but an increase in digital checkouts; the report listed 2,044 digital items and 5,438 physical items circulated. Children’s programming saw renewed participation despite weather-related cancellations. Volunteers contributed 166 hours in February across 27 volunteers; several regular volunteers had been sick or on vacation.
Treasurer and staff updates noted a year-to-date expenditure total of about $107,000. The board recorded a second annual $1,000 gift from a former volunteer designated for senior programming and $525 in passport-processing revenue. Katherine Dormody is preparing for an upcoming audit next week.
Trustees reviewed event planning: the library will partner with Parks and Recreation for a Bunny Hop Storywalk on April 3 and requested a minimum of eight volunteers. National Library Week will be observed April 19–25 with the theme 'Find Your Joy.' The board also discussed preparations for the Summer Reading program, whose 2026 theme is 'Plant a Seed...Read'; staff created a program 'passport' and redistributed duties in anticipation of a staff member’s maternity leave.
